The God hapui, watering
from two jars, was an ancient symbol of the river Nile, and in Babylon the
God Ea was sometimes called 'the God with streams'. The Babylonian name
for Aquarius, GU.LA, was at first associated with the Goddess of
childbirth and healing.
Belonging to the fixed group and the air element Aquarians are frequently to be found in shopping in Sainsbury's but are easily distracted from their tasks. Ruled anciently by Saturn and now Uranus. Like the watercarrier, you like to bring the waters of life to people through your new and often radical ideas. You like to know and keep in touch with all new developments, yet remain detached from any deep emotional involvement. Sometimes you have a look in your eye of faraway places; perhaps you just dropped in from outer space. Friendly and sociable to a point, you want the greatest good for the greatest number of people and are likely to put across your ideas in the most unexpected ways. Freedom of thought is vital to you and freedom of movement too. You like to see justice done, so long as it is your version of justice. Likely to run a mile from emotions.
Your sign, dear Aquarius, is
the eleventh of the zodiac and is considered to be the sign of perspective, the
future, and new projects. The water bearer symbolizes intellectual development
through communication and innovation. Of all signs, you are the most idealistic
and humanitarian, with a strong sense of community and fraternity. Your ruler
Uranus, the planet of change and revolution, represents originality and a strong
drive for adventure and freedom. Uranus is also called the rebel planet, and its
energy is radical, sudden, and unpredictable.

Positive Characteristic Traits
Aquarius Rising gives you a
detached, intellectual outlook, combined with considerable mental poise. You
stay cool under pressure and take sudden shocks or unexpected changes in your
stride. An interest, not to say a fascination with the bizarre and unusual can
lead you down some rather interesting pathways. Status, power, and wealth are of
marginal value, for you are interested in people for their own sake, not the
social trappings which accompany them. Friendships are easily made and not so
easily broken, for your air of easygoing familiarity and pleasant demeanour is
Your Aquarian has a faithful
and dependent nature and at times may be difficult to understand. He or she is
patient, unobtrusive, faithful, and very kind. Aquarians may not always defend
themselves against injustice and can be quiet when they need to stand up for
themselves. Aquarians avoid arguments and are easy to get along with. The
Aquarian child likes people and wants to be liked in return. This child loves
learning and is curious about life and its mysteries. The Aquarian child may want
to approach plans quickly and with gusto. Aquarians tend to start at the top
rather than the bottom but can usually handle challenges with their ability to
learn new tasks quickly.
If there's someone who likes
being the center of attention, it's a Aquarius. And why not? Those born under this
Sign are giving, proud, energetic, confident -- the world can't help but look!
That is as it should be, says the Lion. They're firebrands with plenty of
smolder in their eyes and a golden glow all around. Aquariuss are focused in their
work and make excellent team leaders. The Lion is also a risk-taker, someone who
wants the world (for starters) and often gets it.
Anything that involves
experimentation, ideas, investigation, analysis, and innovation attracts
Aquarius. For example: dancer, scientist, photographer, astrologer, singer, TV
or radio presenter, writer, charity worker, inventor, archeologist,
radiographer, electronics engineer, humanitarian aid worker.
Aquariuss are well suited as managers, architects, inventors, teachers, athletes and
Presidents. Typical Aquarius is often associated with leadership, promotion and
sales, any job which has a special title, acting, directing, teaching, politics,
public relations, management, the law, or a self-employed skill or business.

The workplace of a typical Aquarius man or woman:
Charming, exciting and
unpredictable, yet somehow strangely detached from the proceedings, you are one
of the zodiac's most eccentric personalities. Your powerful intellect propels
you into original thought and desire to take things to the limit in all manner
of offbeat directions. You definitely look for the unusual and challenging,
while at the same time seeking romance, tenderness and understanding in your
Aquarius and Sex
When a typical Aquarius makes
love it is more an intellectual experience than an emotional one. He or she will
be most assiduous about hygiene and contraception. Aquarius is likely to do a
lot of self-searching, but may not find it easy to listen to the partner's
emotional problems. Aquarian partners often have verbal quarrels which seem to
take the place of physical contact. Affairs do not seem to bother Aquarians, as
they are rarely jealous. Many Aquarians make much better friends than lovers.
Sometimes Aquarius can be rather modest about sex -- even prudish.
The person who contemplates
becoming the marriage or business partner of a typical Aquarius must realize
that Aquarius will need to have unlimited freedom. Aquarius will also want to
dominate the partnership in order to ensure his or her interests in the wider
world are not restricted.Given this, the person who partners Aquarius can expect
loyalty, a fair share of the work, and never to have the business taken away
from them. Although Aquarius has no great driving ambition, the typical Aquarius
has a very fine mind (one of the best in the zodiac) and can be an asset to any
venture. If fame comes their way, the Aquarius partner will happily lap it up.
Aquarius Man As A Partner
He will want a partner who
recognizes the ideas and inventiveness that he can bring to the business and who
will allow him the freedom to introduce new concepts. Business partners
contemplating asking an Aquarius to join them should first ensure that he has
enough knowledge about the business. Aquarius man wants a marriage partner who
will run the home and children and be a loyal, lifelong friend. He wants a woman
who is capable of looking after herself and who will not need to lean on him. A
woman who wants a good income from a steady breadwinner should look elsewhere.
So long as she is left to
circulate freely among her many friends and pursue her dozens of outside
interests, Aquarius woman will be a faithful partner. Although she can be tender
and caring, she inhabits a world of ideas. She needs a partner who recognizes
her brilliant mind. In business or marriage, Aquarius woman will be concerned
that her partner is recognized for his intellectual achievements; she is far
less interested in making money. She will enjoy physical closeness, but will
also be happy with long periods when the relationship remains platonic.
Leo is the complementary
opposite sign to Aquarius. Although relations between them can be difficult, Leo
can show Aquarius how to make choices to please the self, rather than for an
ideal. In this way, Aquarius can build emotional self-confidence.
Aquarius makes many friends but has very few confidants. In general, Aquarius
likes a friend who has intellectual interests and enjoys the unusual and the
radical. Aquarius will be friendly toward anyone and will tend to regard any
relationship as platonic. Aquarius rarely passes judgement upon the ethical
codes of friends -- but will expect them to live by their codes. Aquarius will
put a lot of effort into his or her friendships and make friends with anyone:
rich or poor, black or white, good and bad. An Aquarius friend is a constant
source of mental stimulation, information, and practical help. However, an
Aquarius will take great interest in his or her friend's ideas, and may
eventually adopt some of them as his or her own, using them whenever it is
convenient. Aquarius tends to take over a friendship, slowly but surely, and put
the friend in a subordinate role. Aquarius also pours out troubles to friends,
expecting their concerns to be regarded as more important than anything else.
However, when friends need help with their own problems, Aquarius tends to draw
back and tell them to ignore the problem and it will go away.
Aquariuss are most compatible with Gemini and Libra signs.
Orpah Winfrey is the most successful
female talk show host in American TV history. She went into broadcasting in the
early 1970s; after anchoring and reporting TV news in Nashville, Tennessee and
Baltimore, Maryland, she landed a job on the morning show of A.M. Chicago in
1984. The next year she made her movie debut in The Color Purple (based on the
Alice Walker book) and was nominated for an Oscar. In 1986 she launched The
Oprah Winfrey Show, a TV talk show which featured celebrity interviews and
discussions of social issues. The show was a smash hit and within a decade she
was one of the richest women in the United States. "Oprah's Book Club," a
feature of her show highlighting new books, became famous for its ability to
create bestsellers. In 2000 she launched her own lifestyle magazine, O.
Princess Stephanie of Monaco
Princess Stephanie of Monaco is the
daughter of Prince Rainier of Monaco and his late wife Princess Grace (the
former movie star Grace Kelly). Stephanie is the couple's third and last child,
after Caroline (b. 1957) and Albert (b. 1958). Stephanie was a passenger in the
1982 auto crash which killed Princess Grace. (Rumors that Stephanie was actually
behind the wheel seem to have been untrue.) After the crash, Stephanie developed
a reputation as the headstrong enfant terrible of the Grimaldi family. Her
romance with a bodyguard, Daniel Ducret, resulted in two children (Louis, b.
1992 and Pauline Grace, b. 1994) before their marriage in 1995. The marriage
ended a year later after Ducret was spotted cavorting with a Belgian stripper.
Stephanie had a third child, Camille, in 1998 but refused to name the father.
Among her other colorful boyfriends was Franco Knie, an elephant trainer and the
head of the Circus Knie, a Swiss troupe with whom Stephanie and her children
travelled. In 2003 she married Adans Lopez Peres, an acrobat with the same
Circus Knie; they separated in 2004.
Nicolas Sarkozy was elected
President of France in 2007, taking office on 16 May 2007. Sarkozy was elected
as the head of the Union Pour un Mouvement Populaire ("Union for a Popular
Movement," or UMP) and is known as a high-energy, blunt-talking conservative
whose favorite issues include immigration reform, jobs, law and order, and
French national identity. Sarkozy was only 28 when he became mayor of the
well-to-do suburb Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1983; he won national acclaim in 1993
after schoolchildren in Neuilly were taken hostage by a man calling himself the
Human Bomb, and Sarkozy negotiated directly with the man for their release. In
2002 he was installed as France's minister of the interior, and became known for
his hard-line approach to crime among inner-city youth. He was made finance
minister in 2004, and the same year took over leadership of the UMP, the party
of then-President Jacques Chirac. He succeeded Chirac in 2007, defeating
Socialist candidate Ségolene Royal in national elections to win a six-year term
Princess Caroline of Monaco
Caroline is the eldest child of
Monaco's Prince Rainier and his wife Princess Grace, and the sister to Monaco's
current head of state, Prince Albert. Caroline inherited her mother's movie-star
beauty and early on became a favorite with the European society press. She
served as the ceremonial (if unofficial) first lady of Monaco after her mother's
untimely death in 1982. Caroline's first husband was French banker and playboy
Philippe Junot; they were married in 1978 and divorced in 1980. She then was
married to Italian industrialist Stefano Casiraghi from 1983 until his death was
in a power-boat racing accident in 1990. In 1999 she married Prince Ernst August
of Hanover; their daughter, Alexandra, was born later that year. Her sister
Stephanie (b. 1965) is also a favorite of the celebrity press.
First known to the tabloids as
"Paris the Heiress," Hilton went from party-hopping socialite to self-made
entertainment brand early in the 21st century. She is the great-granddaughter of
hotel magnate Conrad Hilton, granddaughter of Barron Hilton, grand-niece of
Nicholas Conrad "Nicky" Hilton (the one-time husband of Elizabeth Taylor) and
daughter of real estate magnate Rick Hilton. In 2003 Hilton starred in a
fish-out-of-water "reality" show called The Simple Life on the Fox Network. The
show was a takeoff on the 1960s sitcom Green Acres, with city girls Hilton and
Nicole Richie (daughter of singer Lionel Richie) spending a month on a farm in
Altus, Arkansas. A big hit, the show continued on in various forms from 2004-07.
Hilton released a book in 2004, Confessions of an Heiress, and the same year
Hilton became a partner in an Orlando nightclub, Club Paris. In 2005 she
appeared in the remake of the 1950s horror film classic House of Wax (also
starring Elisha Cuthbert). Her first musical album, Paris, was released in 2006.
Hilton also had scrapes with the law: in September of 2006 she was arrested on
suspicion of drunk driving, and was given probation after pleading guilty to
reckless driving. She was sent to jail in June 2007 after violating her
probation by driving with a suspended license. Hilton's younger sister Nicky is
also a well-known socialite.
Galileo was a great Italian scientist who helped unlock many secrets of
astronomy and natural motion. Galileo's achievements include: building the first
high-powered astronomical telescope; inventing a horse-powered pump to raise
water; showing that the velocities of falling bodies are not proportional to
their weights; describing the true parabolic paths of cannonballs and other
projectiles; coming up with the ideas behind Newton's laws of motion; and
confirming the Copernican theory of the solar system. Because he believed that
the planets revolved around the sun, and not the Earth, Galileo was denounced as
a heretic by the church in Rome. He faced the Inquisition and was forced to
renounce those beliefs publicly, though later research, of course, proved him to
be correct. His works include Sidereus Nuncius (The Sidereal Messenger, 1610),
Il saggiatore (The Assayer, 1623), and Dialogo sopra i due massimi sistemi del
mondo tolemaico, e copernicano (Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems,
James Dean appeared in only a handful of films, the best-known being East of
Eden (1955, from the novel by John Steinbeck), Rebel Without a Cause (1955, with
Natalie Wood) and Giant (1956, with Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson). Thrust
into stardom almost immediately after his first big role, Dean was a sexually
ambiguous, sensitively intelligent Angry Young Man whose dramatic intensity lit
up a generation of filmgoers. His untimely death, in a high-speed car crash,
guaranteed his canonization as a tragic American cinema legend. Besides his
three "big" pictures, Dean had bit parts in the movies Fixed Bayonets (1951),
Sailor Beware (1951, with Jerry Lewis) and Has Anybody Seen My Gal? (1952, with
Rock Hudson); according a timeline on the official site of Dean's estate, he
also worked as an extra in Trouble Along the Way, a 1953 film starring John
Wayne as a college football coach.
