There is no ancient myth involving Libra; but about 2000BC the constellation was associated with the judgment of the living and dead in Babylonian religions, and Zibanitu, the Scales, weighed the souls. In Egypt, the harvest was weighed when the Moon was full in Libra.
Belonging to the cardinal group and the air element Librans are gently creatures requiring pleasant and peaceful surroundings, arguments and tension disrupt them to such an extent that they can lose touch with their delicately balanced souls. Ruled by the planet Venus. Like the scales of justice, you weigh the pros and cons of everything and you seem to have a mission to bring people and ideas together. Your forte is diplomacy; your secret power is the ability to contain a situation, using charm, persuasion, flattery, coercion, negotiation or straightforward manipulation. You have an expert mind and often are sure you are right. If you are typical of your sign, you can adapt to almost any situation. Your secret fear is of being alone with yourself. Yours is a loving sign and you will find a way around any impasse to bring peace and harmony into your life and the lives of others; whatever you do you mean it from the bottom of your heart.
Charming Libra - the seventh
sign of the zodiac. Libra stands for harmony, fairness, equality, and balance.
You are considered to be the most civilized and polite member of the zodiac,
because you always display an even-tempered and composed attitude. Your ruler
Venus - the planet of love, sex, and beauty - influences you to strive to create
harmony, to express and show affection, and to accommodate and please others.
Its romantic, sensual, and seductive energy makes you a suave and

unhappy side of life, at times content to live with illusions. Your Libra child
loves beauty, colors, music, and the arts. If not talented in the arts, he or
she will deeply appreciate them. Libras often show a great sense of sympathy
toward people and are good at using tact. A Libra is likely to be an attentive
listener who shows genuine compassion for others. Libra children seem to learn
best from experience and intuition, which is amazingly developed. These children
are usually handsome or beautiful, as if their innate souls find expression in
the physical.Be prepared to give your Libra child artistic surroundings and an
education in the arts. Help him or her to face things as they are and to learn
that the reality of things is often different from their appearances. Libra must
learn the law of cause and effect, that all life has interrelationship; this is
the lesson of the Balances, as symbolized by the Sign of Libra.
If it's the truth you seek,
you'll want to work with a Libra. The Scales will look at all sides of an issue,
then make a careful and deliberate decision once they're sure it's the right

of the privilege.
Libra as Employer
Libra as Employee
A typical Libra employee (male or female):
The workplace of a typical Libra man or woman:
You are the focal point of
elegance and chic in the zodiac. Ruled by Venus, the planet of love and sensual
delight, you seek relationship with an avid fascination. Libra lives for love -
and style! You are so much in love with love, you sometimes fail to notice how
many admirers you are holding on a string... Charming Libra loves exploring
every facet of relationship, being always on display and always on the lookout
for Mr/Ms Right (even if already involved, love-loving Libra is ready to jump
ship should something a little brighter appear on the horizon).
Libra and Sex
When a typical Libra makes
love it is not always a passionate experience, unless there are more passionate
signs in the Libra's chart. Libra may appear to be calm, confident, and in
control, but they are often very uncertain about their sexual identity. They are
usually very influenced by images of sexual attractiveness in the media, and no
matter how beautiful or attractive they are (and they often are) Libras can feel
sexually very insecure and uncertain. All this does not, however, lessen Libra's
interest in sex.
The person who contemplates
becoming the marriage or business partner of a typical Libra must realize that
Libra forms partnerships to avoid the terrible sense of loneliness which is
always present at the heart of a Libra. Given this, the person who partners
Libra can expect the marriage or the business to be happy and successful. Libra
is the zodiac sign of partnerships, and typical Libras cannot imagine life
without a relationship. The Libra will work hard and thoughtfully to make the
partnership a harmonious balance of two personalities.
Libra Man As A Partner
He will want a partner who has
some good social or business connections. The young or immature Libra sees
himself as the ugly duckling of the fairy tale. He will want his partner to be
his personal mirror, reflecting back to him a self-image that is mature and
confident. The developed Libra will indeed grow into a swan, but most Libras
need plenty of encouragement on the way. In a partnership, Libra will generally
take charge of the finances, making sure that there is always a good bank
balance. Libra tends to have very strong views about money.
The young, inexperienced Libra
female will see a partner as the provider of all that she needs. As she matures,
she will want to share herself with the partner. She will have plenty of talent
and energy, and her aim is to be successful in every field. She will bring logic
and sophistication to any business and a calm beauty to her home -- where she
will help her loved one to relax and renew himself.
Aries is the complementary
opposite sign to Libra. Although relationships between them can be difficult,
they can become entirely complementary to each other as they mature. Aries, the
sign of self, can inspire Libra to take the initiative alone sometimes. Libra
can thus learn to become self-sufficient and also gain a greater sense of
personal identity. In this way, Libra, the sign of partnership, may be able to
enjoy a separate identity while in a partnership.
Libras are usually very social people who like to be on the go. Life for Libras revolves around keeping in touch with other people; this is what makes them happy. Libras will work hard for a friend, giving of themselves tirelessly for days on end. When they become tired, they will need to rest completely. But friends should not mistake the Libran recuperation periods as a loss of interest. Libras are loving friends and are unlikely to embarrass anyone with emotional outbursts. A Libran friend is honest and will treat a friend fairly. They make sensitive companions for visits to events concerned with the arts. However, Libras can occasionally try the patience of a friend with their indecisiveness. They can be jealous of a friend who is better looking than they are. Friends must also be aware of the periodic depressive moods into which Libras seem to plunge. Such moods can be lightened by genuine compliment. Friends should never forget that the worst thing for a Libra is to be left alone for too long. If this happens, they can become irritable and sulky, and they can lose their self-esteem.
Libras are most compatible with Aquarius and Gemini.
Since the early 1970s, Stephen King
has been America's most famous horror writer. His books are a mainstay of
paperback bookracks everywhere, and have spawned a multi-media franchise that
includes movies, TV shows, video games and comic books. King is famously fecund,
turning out a novel a year and sometimes more. His string of bestsellers began
with Carrie (1974), and his early horror novels include Salem's Lot (1975), The
Shining (1977) and The Dead Zone (1979), all of which have been adapted for film
or television. Since conquering the horror market, King has written novels in
other genres and experimented with various publishing methods, including issuing
installments of The Green Mile (1996) and beginning the Internet-first
publication of The Plant in 2000 (commercially unsuccessful, installments were
suspended after five months). King's other books include: The Stand (1978);
Firestarter (1980); Cujo (1981); Pet Sematary (1983); Insomnia (1984); Misery
(1987); Delores Claiborne (1992); Bag of Bones (1998); and Cell (2006).
A brilliant and fluid forward,
Ronaldo became one of international soccer's great stars of the 1990s and
Brazil's biggest soccer hero since Pele. At age 17 he was a member of Brazil's
1994 World Cup-winning squad, though he did not play. The same year he joined
the Dutch professional team PSV Eindhoven. His professional contract was
purchased by Barcelona in 1996; the next year he moved again to Italy's F.C.
Internazionale Milano, remaining until 2002 when he transferred to Real Madrid.
He was named FIFA's World Footballer of the Year in 1996 and 1997, becoming both
the youngest player to win the award and the only player to win the award in
consecutive years. He also starred in the 1998 World Cup, scoring four goals in
leading Brazil to the Cup finals, but he was criticized for their 3-0 loss to
France in the championship game. Slowed by injuries in the 21st century, Ronaldo
nonetheless made a triumphant return by leading Brazil to the World Cup
championship in 2002. He won the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer
(with eight goals) and scored both goals in Brazil's 2-0 final game win over
Germany. Despite accusations that he had become overweight and less than
energetic, Ronaldo scored three goals in the 2006 World Cup, giving him a total
of 15 in World Cup play -- a new record. He transferred from Barcelona to A.C.
Milan in January of 2007, signing an 18-month contract.
Mohandas K. Gandhi studied law in England, then spent 20 years defending the rights of immigrants in South Africa. In 1914 he returned to India and became the leader of the Indian National Congress. Gandhi urged non-violence and civil disobedience as a means to independence from Great Britain, with public acts of defiance that landed him in jail several times. In 1947 he participated in the postwar negotiations that led to Indian independence. He was shot to death by a Hindu fanatic in 1948.
Carrie Fisher is still remembered as
the plucky Princess Leia in the hit film Star Wars (1977). Her parents, Debbie
Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, were a famous Hollywood couple of their day. (Fisher
later left Reynolds to marry Elizabeth Taylor.) Carrie Fisher made her feature
film debut in Shampoo (with Warren Beatty and two years later had her
breakthrough with Star Wars. She also joined co-stars Mark Hamill and Harrison
Ford in two sequels, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi
(1983). Her other films have included Hannah and Her Sisters (1986, directed by
Woody Allen and When Harry Met Sally (1989, with Meg Ryan). In the 1980s Fisher
battled drug addiction and manic-depression and later described her struggles in
the semi-autobiographical book Postcards From the Edge (1990). In the 1990s she
became known as a screenwriter and "script doctor" for feature films, and since
then has had a talk show on TV, Conversations From the Edge, and another novel,
The Best Awful (2004).
In 1976 Anne Rice published Interview With The Vampire, and within a decade the book became the best-known vampire novel since Bram Stoker's Dracula. She has written several novels exploring sexual and romantic desire and the spiritual world, and is a famous New Orleans resident with a devoted fan base. Rice has also published novels under the pen names Anne Rampling and A.N. Roquelaure. In 1998 she had a reawakening of her Catholic faith and abandoned the dark subjects that made her famous. Her 2005 book, Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt, tells the tale of Jesus as a boy.
Nicky Hilton and her older sister Paris are heirs to the Hilton Hotel fortune, known for their jetset party-girl lifestyles. Nicky is named for her grand-uncle Nicholas Conrad "Nicky" Hilton, Jr., the former husband of actress Elizabeth Taylor and the son of Hilton Hotels founder Conrad Hilton. NIcky's fame has generally been overshadowed by that of her sister Paris, who starred in the long-running reality series The Simple Life. Nicky Hilton announced in 2006 that she would open a line of hotels to be called Nicky O, but by February of 2007 deals in Miami Beach, Florida and Chicago, Illinois had fallen through and she was being sued by a development company for breach of contract.
Catherine Zeta-Jones won an Oscar as best supporting actress for her deliciously villainous femme fatale in the 2002 film Chicago. Originally more popular in the U.K. than in the U.S., Zeta-Jones was first a hit on both sides of the Atlantic as the love interest of Antonio Banderas in the 1998 movie The Mask of Zorro. She quickly became an A-list star, often cast as a wily and sexy schemer. She was the expert thief opposite Sean Connery in the heist movie Entrapment, and the hard-edged drug kingpin's wife in Traffic (2000, directed by Steven Soderbergh). She and co-star Renee Zellweger both received Oscar nominations for Chicago. Her profile was boosted by her movie-star romance with actor Michael Douglas. The two were married in 2000, not long after completing filming on Traffic. Zeta-Jones also was a prominent spokesperson for T-Mobile phones from 2002-2006.
